Eco-Adventure Itinerary
Day 1 - Friday - San Jose Our singles
trip begins as you arrive in San Jose and are met at the Juan Santamaria airport
and transferred to our hotel.
Our Welcome Dinner is at El Patio del Balmoral, just a few
blocks from your hotel. Overnight at Sleeps Inn
Day 2 - Saturday - San Jose Perfect for
first-timer or experienced looking for the excitement of big waves and stunning
scenery, the Florida section of the
Reventazón River is some of the fastest and best 10 miles of Class III rapids
you'll ever paddle!
After a safety orientation, the first rapid of the
day will set the pace. As your raft rounds each new bend you'll be greeted with
another breathtaking view of the Reventazón Valley. After a fun and exhilarating
day we stop for a delicious hot lunch, showers, optional drinks and souvenirs
before the return drive to San Jose.
Tonight you are on your own or join the group as we walk to
a local restaurant for dinner (not included).
Day 3 - Sunday: San
Jose - Tortuguero Today we depart to Tortuguero National Park on
the Atlantic Coast, crossing Costa Rica from west to east, descending into the
lowlands of the Caribbean coast. In Caño Blanco we board a river boat where
our exciting tour really begins. During the two hour trip, we will observe
various animals and vegetations. We arrive in time for lunch. Spend the
aftertnoon at the pool, kayaking. Overnight at Evergreen Lodge (Meals:
B-L-D)
Day 4 - Monday - Tortuguero After
breakfast the singles travel group will explore the National Park of Tortuguero. It
is where we can see the green turtles, sea birds, monkeys, and even the rare
manatee. The tour ends on the beaches where we can see turtle tracks and
occasionally nearly hatched babies. Lunch at the lodge. Afternoon we visit
Tortuguero town and the Caribbean Conservation Center.
At night we can take a taxi boat in to town and dance or
karaoke with the locals
Day 5 - Tuesday - Tortuguero - Arenal Eat an early breakfast
before we board the boats back to Caño Blanco port where our private transfer takes
us to the Arenal Area.
After lunch at El Ceibo, we continue to La Fortuna and get
our first full view of the majestic volcano.
After a long day soak in the hot mineral springs at The
Springs, hot springs waters. The Springs is a connected system of trails and seven
spring fed pools located within a forest canyon. The pools range in temperature
from 76°F to 98°F.
Day 6 - Wednesday - Arenal Learn
to cook typical Costa Rican dishes using fresh ingredients that are picked right
there in the orchard. Visit a site full of history, culture, and traditions: La
Finca de Don Juan, where you will be told about its 100 years of history, the
surroundings, and its inhabitants. Here, surrounded by a natural ambiance and the
majestic view of La Fortuna River and the Arenal Volcano, we’ll be delighted with a
traditional lunch prepared at the house.
After lunch Horseback Ride to La Fortuna Waterfalls. The
ride is 1½ hours on horseback, along the way see the Costa Rican country side,
cattle farms and have the chance to see birds like oropendolas and tucans. It is a
short walk into the forest to the 230' high waterfall. The steps down to the base
are steep but there's a “natural pool” for swimming.
Dinner at hotel.
Day 7 -
Thursday: Arenal - Monteverde After breakfast enjoy an ATV tour
not only will give you the opportunity for adventure and fun, also includes
nature and unique views of the majestic Arenal Volcano.
Arenal-Monteverde by Lake is the fastest and newest
way to travel. We board a very comfortable pontoon boat for a 40 minutes ride to
Río Chiquito, a little town on the other side of the lake. Once at Rí Chiquito, we
leave the boat and have a short break to stretch before a 1.5 hour microbus ride to
our hotel.
Day 8 - Friday -
Monteverde
Enjoy a late
breakfast and a Morning of leisure.
This afternoon it is time for ziplining through a canopy of
trees. - Sky Trek is a system of trails, suspension bridges, and zip lines that
offer visitors the opportunity to observe, view and appreciate tropical vegetation
from different vantage points above the canopy. Two suspended bridges in, and above
the canopy, one 265 feet long, and one 60 meter. There are three platforms above
the canopy, connected by zip lines. A canopy observation tower, 72' high, 10 cables
system, the longest is 1,400 feet long.
Day 9 -
Saturday: Montevede - San Jose After breakfast at the hotel we
will hike in the Monteverde reserve for 3 hours. Elevation ranges from 600
meters above sea level to 1800 meters on isolated peaks.Trails are in
excellent condition with railings on the steps and in some cases slices of
tree trunks creating a lily pond like path to keep people from walking through
mud.
Then we transfer from Monteverde to San José. Lunch on own
at the famous El Caballo Blanco Restaurant en route.
Our farewell dinner is at a local restaurant featuring
mamba music and folklore show.
Day 10 - Sunday - San Jose After
Breakfast we say goodbye to our new single friends as we are transfered to the
airport.
Tortuguero National
Park shelters a fabulous arrayof wildlife, including more than 300
bird species, among them the great green macaw; 57 species of amphibians and
111 of reptiles, including three species of marine turtles; 60 mammal species,
including 13 of Costa Rica's 16 endangered species, including jaguars,
tapirs,The wide-open canals make viewing easy for spotting crocodiles, giant
iguanas, and basilisk lizards basking atop the branches, swallow-tailed hawks
and vultures swooping over the treetops, and caimans on the fallen raffia palm
branches at the side of the
river.
The Arenal Volcano is
the only volcano in Costa Rica constantly active since it woke up after 400
years with the big 1968 eruption producing huge ash columns, explosions &
glowing red lava almost every day. It is considered one of the ten most
active volcanoes in the world.
The Monteverde Cloud Rain Forest is
known around the world for its conservation efforts and lifestyle centered on
respect for nature. In the rain forest are found more than 100 species
of mammals including 5 species of cats, over 400 species of birds including
30 kinds of hummingbirds, tens of thousands of insect species (over 5000
species of moths) and 2,500 species of plants (420 kinds of orchids). The
area is acclaimed as one of the most outstanding wildlife refuges in the New
World Tropics
